Can I Speak at a Council Meeting?
The Council encourages all residents to participate in Fridley's policy-making process. Public Hearings on a specific topic are listed on the agenda and called for by the Mayor at the appropriate time during the meeting. If you would like to speak on a topic that is not on the agenda, there is an Open Forum time right after the consent agenda.

How Does the Council Vote?
To conduct business, at least 3 Council members must be present. A majority vote of the Council members present is needed to approve most motions, ordinances and general resolutions. Some situations require 3 or 4 affirmative votes and/or additional action.

Can I Speak at a Council Meeting?
The Council encourages all residents to participate in Fridley's policy-making process. Public Hearings on a specific topic are listed on the agenda and called for by the Mayor at the appropriate time during the meeting. If you would like to speak on a topic that is not on the agenda, there is an Open Forum time right after the consent agenda.

What is a "consent agenda"?
Routine business is placed on a consent agenda, which is considered and approved by one motion at the beginning of each meeting. Generally, no controversial items are placed on the consent agenda. Any member of the Council may remove an item from the consent agenda for further discussion or consideration.

When and Where Does the Council Meet?
The Fridley City Council typically meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held in the Fridley City Council Chambers on the main floor of City Hall. In addition, Council Workshops are generally held before each regular Council meeting. No formal action or public comment is taken at a Council Workshop.
