Offsite Programs
Springbrook Nature Center Environmental Educators can come to you! There are two ways to bring a naturalist to your classroom or school yard. Large Group Presentations are meant for up to 90 people and are edu-taining, but do not contain hands-on, active learning. Traveling Environmental Education Programs are meant for up to 1 classroom, and will feature hands-on, experiential learning in a smaller setting. We come to your school! Offsite programs are available Monday - Friday from 10 am - 4 pm.
Large Group Presentations
This type of program will consist of some, or all, of the following presentation styles: powerpoint slides, storytelling, lecture-style teaching, animal ambassadors at a distance. These programs are 45 minutes long with 15 minutes of questions. Group size should not exceed 90 people. Pricing is listed for each program below.
Scales and Tales
A Springbrook Nature Center naturalist will share a perfect mixtures of storytelling, natural history and live animals such as snakes or turtles. This program is sure to delight audiences of all ages. $225/program plus travel fee
Reptiles Alive
Students will discover the amazing natural history of reptiles and amphibians found in Minnesota through interactive demonstrations, incredible pictures and a visit from several of Springbrook's ambassador animals such as snakes and turtles. $225/program plus travel fee
Travel Fee
Within Fridley or within 5 miles of Springbrook Nature Center: $50
Outside Fridley or beyond 5 miles from Springbrook Nature Center: $100

Traveling Environmental Education Programs
This type of program is intended for individual classrooms and will consist of hands-on, active and experiential learning. If live animals are a part of your program, your students will have the opportunity to interact with them at closer range.
Program Fees
60 minute program: $5 per student
90 minute program: $7 per student
Travel Fee
If you are within the City of Fridley or within 5 miles of Springbrook Nature Center: $50/day
If you are outside the City of Fridley or further than 5 miles from Springbrook Nature Center: $100/day
Program Topics
Animal Signs
Students will use detective skills to find out about the secret lives of animals! Learn to recognize the signs that animals leave behind and what they tell us about the critters that left them.
Birds
Explore the world around you through the eyes of a bird. Discover bird adaptations, senses, the science of flight, bird identification with binoculars, and more!
Insects
Learn about insect adaptations, ID tricks, and the role of insects in the food chain. We will be collecting live samples as a part of this class.
Mammals
Do you really know enough about mammals? Students will use games, stories, songs, and scientific study to learn more about this group of our closest animal relatives.
Reptiles & Amphibians
This class should be called scaly and cool. Recognize the fascinating ways these creatures survive in Minnesota. This class is very hands-on and includes live animals.
Wetlands
There's water and there's land. Put them together, and you have a super cool ecosystem that's tons of fun to explore. Students will have the opportunity to learn about wetland functions, animals of the wetland, wetland composition, and more!
