Fridley Area Lift Station (L32A)

Project Description

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system, plans to build a new lift station in Fridley to replace the existing and aging lift station in Brooklyn Park (L32).

The existing lift station in Brooklyn Park is 50 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. It lacks adequate storage, leading to sewer backups and odors. This site will be used as an odor control facility and to access pipes that cross the river.

The new lift station will be located on the east side of the Mississippi River in Fridley. The new facility will preserve wastewater system assets, improve system reliability, and accommodate community growth.

Project Schedule

A site plan for the project will be developed from 2019 through 2021, with design occurring between 2021 and 2022, and construction occurring between 2023 and 2026.
